The project’s primary goal is to foster an inclusive labour market in the Central Baltic Sea Region and combat the low employment rate among individuals with intellectual disabilities or other special needs.
The project will challenge stereotypes and promote equality in the labour market by implementing anti-discrimination policies in organisations and offering targeted training programmes for employers and employees. The project recognises the untapped potential of individuals with intellectual disabilities or other special needs and aims to connect them with employers.
Ultimately, the project seeks to cultivate a more diverse and dynamic work environment, fostering social and economic cohesion across borders.
The project team will implement training programmes for employers and employees and create a helpful anti-discrimination policy guide for employers.
At least 60 employers and 60 employees from Latvia and Sweden will participate in the training. The training will help employers understand and support employees with intellectual disabilities or other special needs. The employees – the people with special needs – will learn about employment aspects. The created and piloted new social entrepreneurship service, “Employee as a Service”, will provide a structured way for employers to recruit and support people with intellectual disabilities or other special needs.
As a result of the project activities, at least 40 Latvian and Swedish employers will apply an anti-discrimination policy, ensuring the employment of people with intellectual disabilities or other special needs. Working across borders, the project will demonstrate the benefits of inclusive work, encouraging other regions to adopt similar practices.
