In Finland and Estonia, particularly in rural regions, youth unemployment remains high and many young people with textile and fashion skills lack the entrepreneurial knowledge needed to turn their talents into sustainable livelihoods. The project “Baltic Circular Threads” addresses this gap by targeting young people aged 18–29 who possess creative or craft skills but face barriers to entering the labor market. Through cross-border collaboration, the project delivers a tailored 60-hour business training programme that integrates sustainable design, circular economy principles, and entrepreneurship. By equipping 96 participants with practical business skills and mentorship, the project aims to foster youth entrepreneurship and support green innovation in the textile and fashion sectors of the Baltic Sea region.
The project will train 96 young people aged 18–29 in Estonia and Finland through a cross-border entrepreneurship programme focused on sustainable fashion and circular economy principles. Participants will gain practical business skills, mentorship, and networking opportunities, helping them turn creative skills into viable enterprises. As a result, at least 80 participants are expected to complete the training and improve their entrepreneurial readiness. The project will create long-term impact by reducing youth unemployment, increasing self-employment, and fostering cross-border cooperation in rural areas. It supports green innovation and strengthens the circular textile and fashion ecosystem in the Central Baltic region.
