EMI

Young migrants across Europe face common challenges in integrating into society: language barriers, cultural differences, and limited access to education, employment and business opportunities. These challenges are often worsened by the lack of network connections, resources, or role models, which can undermine their confidence and limit their entrepreneurial potential.

The EMI project aims to support the inclusion of young migrants and strengthen their communities by encouraging entrepreneurship. Through a tailored training programme and mentoring from local business owners, young migrants gain the mindset, skills, and networks needed to reach their potential and take an active role in society.

Expected results

The EMI project provides young migrants (aged 25 or under) with a three-month hybrid training programme that combines online and in-person learning, mentorship, and cross-border collaboration between Finland and Latvia. The programme finishes with a joint 3-day cross-border training session to present ideas to the youngsters of the participating countries.

During two training cycles, the project addresses 70 participants, of whom 40 participate in at least 70% of the activities. The programme develops participants’ sense of self-efficacy, empowers them to take initiative, set ambitious goals, and persist despite obstacles; it represents a pathway to economic independence. Providing the participants with entrepreneurial skills and a supportive learning environment, the project accelerates their integration into local ecosystems and boosts their future employment success.
