Waste to Value

The Waste to Value project was launched in response to the growing volume of construction and demolition waste and the need for more sustainable use of building materials.

Usable building materials are often discarded due to inefficient reuse systems, regulatory barriers, and a lack of awareness. The project aims to address these challenges by developing practical models for reuse.

By collecting, sorting, and redistributing leftover and second-hand building materials, the project reduces waste and promotes circular practices in construction. It also reviews relevant legislation and regulations to identify obstacles and propose policy changes that support reuse and resource efficiency.

Expected results

The project will establish practical models for the collection, reuse, and redistribution of second-hand building materials, while also identifying and addressing legal and regulatory barriers to reuse.

This will lead to a measurable reduction in construction waste and increased circular use of materials. By developing transferable methods and policy recommendations, the project will support similar initiatives across borders, fostering cooperation and knowledge exchange in the Baltic Sea region. Ultimately, it will contribute to more sustainable construction practices and resource efficiency at both local and regional levels.
